Email to Fax - Part 1

At XOIP we're constantly trying to improve out product and make our users experience easier and friendlier.

With the above in mind, Email to Fax is one of the newest additions that we have made to our system, hoping to make it easier for users to use.

Completing 4 easy steps will allow you to take advantage of this new and easy method of faxing.

  • Create a free XOIP account
Sign up for your free account at  www.xoip.com

  • Setup your Account
Login to your new XOIP account and click the 'profile' tab.
Scroll down to the 'email to fax' section and click the 'Enable email to fax' checkbox.
Set the 'security option' to 'none' (more about this later)

  • Purchase credits
In order to send a fax you need go purchase credits.
Click the 'buy credits' link at the top of the right hand menu and follow the prompts to purchase credits via Paypal or iDeal.

  • email your fax
Using your favourite email program, create a new email.
For the 'To' address in the email, use the number you want to send the fax to followed by @sendfax.xoip.com eg. 31205552222@sendfax.xoip.com .
Attach the PDF you wish to fax go the email and click the send button.Within minutes your fax should be delivered to the number you specified.

Security

We have added in 2 countermeasures against unfriendly people spoofing your email address and using your credits to send their faxes.
  • code
You can specify a keyword that must be present in the subject of the mail.
If the keyword is not present then a 'rejected' email is sent to the account email address.

  • email
when we receive a fax email we send an email back to the account email address asking for the account holder to confirm the fax email. The conformation email contains links to confirm, deny or preview the fax sent.

Email to Fax addresses

By using the 'Add email address' link, you can allow different email addresses to send faxes via your XOIP account.
These email addresses are restircted in the same way that the account email address is, i.e. if a code is set then the senders need to have the code somewhere in the 'subject' of their email. If you have the 'email' security setting enabled then the conformation emails still need to be verified by the account holder.

Credit usage

Generally credits get deducted from the account holders credit balance.

The exception is:
If you have the same email address enabled for mail2fax on more than one XOIP account, the fax sending fees get deducted from the account with the most credits available.
